It’s a commonly known fact that smokers are deficient in Vitamin C. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that assists your body in ATP production by strengthening and providing protection to you red blood cells. It also helps detox the body of nicotine especially in the first few days after you quit smoking. Vitamin C is also essential for your skin to rebuild collagen.
I add vitamin c powder to filtered water every night and I take it about 30 minutes after dinner along with vitamin a, vitamin e, selenium, alpha lipoic acid (ALA), hyaluronic acid and coQ10. I consider this my after dinner skin regimen collagen building cocktail, but ALA also is essential for ATP and metabolism.
The upper limit for Vitamin C 2000mg, higher doses are generally safe but can cause stomach upset and diarrhea.
Smokers are commonly deficient in Vitamin C, vitamin C deficiency affects the body’s ability to absorb minerals needed for healthy metabolism and red blood cells including iron and copper and when taken with iron or copper, it increases mineral absorption. Additionally, Vitamin C inhibits the absorption of B vitamins so should be taken apart from B vitamins. For that reason, I generally take B vitamins during the day and Vitamin C at night.
