Vitamin B3 (niacinamide) is essential for your body to produce ATP which fuels your metabolism; it’s also essential for dopamine production and is not a new supplement for use in healing from substance use disorders so it can be really helpful in smoking cessation. In fact the founder of AA took niacinamide for months and credits it as a helpful part of his sobriety. It has also has been used as a quit smoking aid, because it helps the body to produce dopamine which plummets when we quit smoking, so it helps to boost mood and energy.
Niacinamide is the non-flushing form of Niacin. Regular niacin supplements cause flushing, which can lasts 30-60 minutes and it feels like you all of the sudden have an itchy sunburn. Try it, some people may like the effect but for me, the flushing effect gives me anxiety. I take niacinamide along with Tyrosine, Rhodiola Rosea and Chromium for energy in the morning and after lunch as needed.
