Here is why I’ll never stop drinking coffee. I may switch to decaf someday, but I will always need a hot drink in the morning to add my collagen powder too. Maybe I’ll try it one day with hot lemon water.
Proline, Lysine, Glycine and Threonine are the four amino acids your body must have to make collagen. If your body can’t make collagen (and it gets harder with age) your skin can’t regain firmness and elasticity. I took first tried this product a couple years ago and stopped having not really noticing a difference in my skin. Two points on this 1) I was still smoking and 2) I didn’t understand what was actually in the powder.
When I started researching what the body needs to make collagen, I looked for products that contain the amino acids l-proline, l-lysine, l-glycine, and l-threonine and that’s when Vital Proteins Collagen and I met again. Each 2 scoop serving has 2076mg proline, 3719mg glycine, 614mg lysine and 343mg threonine. So I’m trying it again as a non-smoker, it also contains many other amino acids, vitamin c and hyaluronic acid.
Out of all these amino acids glycine is the hardest to get through food sources and although you can get it in the gelatin powders, I just can’t handle the taste.
