Inositol is a plant based antioxidant. I had never heard of it until I started researching why metabolism slows down in smoking cessation. It’s an essential component of your ATP production and storage as it helps your red blood cells (which decline when you quit smoking) by strengthening the cell membrane, so that ATP is only released when it’s needed. It also helps your body to produce three neurotransmitters: dopamine, serotonin and GABA, providing a joyful calming effect. It may also help with cravings and snack binging, as inositol regulates sugar and insulin levels.
This is the first time I’m taking inositol, I plan to take it late in the afternoon.
